Albertinia has two Aloe factories, as Aloe Ferox, or Cape Aloe is indigenous to the area.

Other species, such as " Aloe ferox ", also are cultivated or harvested from the wild for similar applications.

This species is frequently confused with the related " Aloe ferox " and " Aloe africana " species, to the south, and they do look very similar when fully grown.

As this aloe species can sometimes look very similar to related species ( e . g . " Aloe excelsa " or " Aloe ferox " ), this feature is useful for identification.

The red-winged starling will obviously only perch on plant structures that will be able to support its weight; therefore when taking nectar it will choose certain species with strong, robust racemes with easily accessible flowers, such as that of " Aloe ferox " and " Aloe marlothii ", and not " Aloe arborescens ".

The deep sandy soils of the western portion of the municipal area also give way to grass and farm-lands, with large stands of typically dry fynbos which are characterised by, amongst others, the " Aloe ferox " ( also known as the " bitter aloe ", " Cape aloe " or " red aloe " ) from which skin-care products are made locally, and the " Chondropetalum tectorum " ( Cape or Cape-Dutch buildings.
